Sigma provides environmental services to county government
Sigma has served as the environmental service provider to Milwaukee County under their Annual Architect and Engineer (A&E) contract since 2001.
Services provided by Sigma include:
Pre-Demolition / Renovation / Hazardous Materials
Completion of pre-demolition and renovation asbestos inspection compliant with NESHAP and City of Milwaukee requirements, where applicable. Sigma provided clearance monitoring during abatement and performed project closeout for facilities at approximately 20 different sites. The sites include Milwaukee County Zoo concessions, Parks Department pool houses, General Mitchell International Airport parking structure, House of Corrections and its nearby properties, County grounds and other offices and structures.
Sigma designed integrated strategies to maximize developable space within Milwaukee County facilities, including restoration of a surface parking lot at former University of Wisconsin-Extension buildings. This project involved planning, surveying, design, preparation of bidding documents, participation in variance proceedings and services during construction. Sigma also provided air monitoring and clearance observation of asbestos abatement activities.
Indoor Air Quality
Sigma performed a mold evaluation of the War Memorial museum, storage and building system areas, and led the development of corrective action plans for the facilities.
Sigma’s team of civil engineers designed and implemented a storm sewer and drainage system at Milwaukee’s War Memorial complex to alleviate basement flooding.
Sigma completed a compliance evaluation of County land relative to WPDES Stormwater Permitting requirements for 40 percent Total Suspended Solid (TSS) removal deadline of 2013. A comprehensive SLAMM Model was applied with various Best Management Practices that identified opportunities for improving solid reduction at the Milwaukee County Zoo, General Mitchell International Airport, Timmerman Airport and County Parks.
