Harley-Davidson Awarded 2007 BEBR Grant

On December 12, 2007 Sigma was on hand to witness the award of a $1.25 million State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce Blight Elimination and Brownfield Reduction (BEBR) Grant presented by Governor Doyle to Harley-Davidson Motor Corporation for the new Harley-Davidson Museum, located on 6th and Canal Streets in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley.

Early in 2007, Sigma worked with Harley-Davidson to evaluate alternative financial assistance programs. Sigma then assisted Harley-Davidson in preparation of a pro forma for eligible as well as ineligible costs and assisted with preparing the grant application.

The Menomonee Valley is a 1,200-acre stretch just west of downtown Milwaukee and is undergoing one of the most massive redevelopments in its history. The revitalization of the Valley is a great example of how Milwaukee is progressively moving forward with economic development. Initiatives like the Wisconsin Department of Commerce’s BEBR program provide a great service to communities by assisting in returning lands to productive use. Not only will the Harley-Davidson Museum create a unique, new Milwaukee experience, but it will revitalize a property with hundreds of trees and native plantings along with outdoor seating areas, allowing everyone to enjoy the grounds and beautiful river walk.

Congratulations to Harley-Davidson for their hard work and commitment to revitalizing Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley and to Sigma for their assistance on the project and helping to obtain significant additional project financial assistance.
