Project: The North End

The North End is a highly anticipated mixed-use residential and retail neighborhood that when completed will encompass as many as 500 residential units and 35,000 square feet of retail space and be accredited as LEED® Neighborhood Development. The reuse of this former tannery property along the Milwaukee River provides a unique setting for this development; it also provided challenges.

Sigma assisted Mandel with the multiple issues related to the historic property use, including the existing building edifice and infrastructure and subsurface soil quality. In addition to environmental considerations common to this type of property, Sigma worked with Mandel to integrate strategic storm water management designs, public road expansions, and integration of a river walk into the redevelopment design.

This project integrated many of Sigma’s disciplines over many years. The culmination will be a first class redevelopment that obtains LEED® certification.
